Izola’s diverse beaches

Along 5 km of its coast, Izola offers eight different beaches. One of the most beautiful is the wild beach Bele skale (White Rocks), which is located within the Landscape Park Strunjan. Here, the sea gets these special colours – almost azure. Younger generations will love the beach below Belvedere, which is hidden away from the town hustle and bustle and where there is always something going on. Just a few feet away, in San Simon bay, there is a beach, which is perfect for families. Here, you will find a long slide, beach volley courts, children’s playground etc. Immediately by the beach, you will find Izola’s archaeological park, where you can discover stories about Ancient Romans. The most iconic of Izola’s beaches is Svetilnik (Lighthouse), where one can even see the Alps on sunny days. Here, you can rest in the shade of the trees, or you can catch sun rays by the white lighthouse. This beach is also the most favourite spot for the locals.

Stories of Izola’s town centre

Beside sea-related wonders, Izola is also hiding numerous cultural treasures. And one of these is also the DeGrassi Palace, where you are located. You can also explore other famous palaces – the baroque-style Besenghi Palace or the Manzioli Palace, located at Izola’s beautiful square of the same name; you can climb the bell tower and discover sea-related and maritime history of the town in Izolana – House of the Sea. We recommend you take a tour around the town centre by participating in the game of discovering one of the most carefully kept of Izola’s secrets – you will have to swear that you won’t reveal it to anyone.

Active exploration of the countryside and bike trails

In addition to Istrian hills and romantic villages, Izola’s countryside offers active vacations to those on a bike and those on foot. Set off on a tour of discovering water sources or the history of the old Parenzana railway, and enjoy the colours of forests surrounding the old Istrian villages. Not just around Izola, these numerous cycling and walking trails of various difficulties are spread around the entire Slovenian Istria. And you will remember all of them for their breathtaking views, beautiful nature and rich cultural heritage.

Romantic spots for viewing Izola

Have you heard of vište? They are breathtaking viewpoints that will feel you with desire to get out your camera right away and create your favourite memory of Izola. Izola’s viewpoints are marked – look for blue signs featuring slippers. Majority of viewpoints are offering unforgettable views – among others, you will even be able to catch glimpses of the Alpine mountains – and the most prominent of them, Triglav. My favourite is #VištaBeleSkale (White Rocks). We wonder, which one you will like the most.

The location of Izola is truly special, as the sea is practically transforming into the green surroundings.
